We are located at Pasir Ris Farmway 2

Minpin For Urgent Fostering/Adoption November 17, 2009

Filed under: Adoption Gallery — mdmwong @ 6:37 am

Age: 8

Gender: Female

Spayed/Neutered: Yes

Temperment: Gentle

Owner just don’t want her anymore. Kind Mdm Wong took her in else she will be sent to SPCA. The dog has a SKC Cert.

After spending 8 years in a home, it is not easy for any dog to adapt to a new environment, expecially a shelter,,,and she has to be caged cos he’s too fragile to mingle with the big dogs.

If u or anyone u know can help her, please email yee.alycia@gmail.com or sms 96890777.

Xena has gone missing (again) October 15, 2009

Filed under: Others — mdmwong @ 3:02 am

Some time ago, we reported about Xena here:

http://mdmwongsshelter.wordpress.com/2009/08/02/please-help-us-find-xena-the-mini-bull-terrrier/

Recently, we managed to source out her whereabouts but it was too late. She ran away.

The story goes a long way & it’s related to the PRC student who adopted a Great Dane puppy at a fee & tried to sell it afterwards for exorbitant profits.

The story here:

http://ubikuchingproject.blogspot.com/2009/10/more-updates.html

One of our volunteers read about the Great Dane story & realised that the name of this PRC adopter matches the name of Xena’s adopter. That’s how we all came out to find out that they are the same person, after much investigation & interrogation with the man himself.

To our dismay, we found out that the PRC’s mum has given Xena away to another friend. And this friend of hers gave her away again to a factory as a guard dog. Our volunteers visited the factory & talked to the people.

Xena was there. WAS. Meaning, she no longer is there.

She was tied to a tree & 3 months ago, she decided to run away. The factory people said that she was on heat & could have ran away to mate with the male stray dogs. And according to them, she was nothing like what she was in the photo. She was very very skinny – skin & bones.

We have faced alot of brickbat about Xena’s case.

There has been alot of finger pointing all these while & till today, we are still not being spared of lashing for not sterilising Xena. Yes, if we did, then none of these would have happened.

It’s always easy, to fault & point finger, when things go wrong. It’s human nature.

But what we want now, is NONE OF THESE unconstructive criticisms.

We seek your help, especially stray feeders, to help us keep a lookout for Xena & her puppies (we believe she might have given birth). She was last seen at TUAS AVE 18.

Xena has a very distinctive marking – a black brow on top of her left eye.

Appeal for funds for treatment of MERLE, The Abandoned Sheltie August 24, 2009

Filed under: Donation — mdmwong @ 4:29 am

21082009060

Merle was found abandoned and brought to Mdm Wong’s shelter. He’s estimated to be 8 years old. Sweet, quiet and easy boy that every dog lover will dream to have. He was foster out on 18/8/09. Did a comprehensive blood test at Allpets and was given a clean bill of health, but he wasn’t eating at his foster home. Worried that he’s sick, foster brought him to the vet on 21/08/09.

It is saddened. A complete blood screening reviewed something shocking. Did 2 complete blood count (CBC) to double confirmed there is no error with the tester. Septicemia bacteria infection in the blood stream (a nasty blood infection) so severe that he could have died anytime. This was not a overnight infection, could be cancerous or infection somewhere in the body for quite sometime. He also has Perineal Hernia on his right which could be the cause. His WBC raised to 73 >17. Two x-rays did not find anything, so will go through a thorough ultra-sound scan when he is able to.

He’s put on drip and 3 different course of antibiotics. The next 24-48 hours is crucial and he must respond to the treatment. 23/08/09 the vet did another round of blood test. His WBC improved slightly but his platelet is dropping, He’s anemic and suspected tick fever.

In theory, when sign of platelet drop due to tick fever, it should be the 2nd stage – sub-clinical phase or 3rd stage – chronic phase, while the early stage – acute phase which happen anywhere from 8 to 20days after bitten by the infected ticks. If confirmed Merle has tick fever, he would need to go through a series of treatment.

Merle is not sponsored, neither is anyone paying for his stay at the shelter. Therefore, there is simply no fund for Merle’s treatment. He’s now at Companion Animal Surgery.

I am now appealing desperately to all to help me help Merle. The treatment will be costly. However, I really wish to give him this precious chance of life. Just like how the shelter took him in when he no longer belonged to a home once his.

Although the original rescue was done by a volunteer at the shelter but Merle was foster out through my contact, thus I am putting up this appeal solely for Merle so that the account can be clean and separate. The chances that foster and myself can offer are limited, but the help you can offer is limitless. Every amount counts, no matter how small.

For those who wish to make a monetary contribution to help in Merle’s treatment, please transfer to my account : POSB SAVINGS 067-08060-2 and post the amount, reference number of transfer & where you came to know about Merle to this email address: yee.alycia@gmail.com

Please help to spread the words. Thank u so much!

God bless,
Alycia

Wewe the JRT August 16, 2009

Filed under: Rehomed — mdmwong @ 4:00 pm

Little Wewe arrived at Mdm Wong’s Shelter recently. She was almost sent to SPCA. Another ‘classic’ case of dog being given up because of delivery of 2nd child.

A child has a life. So does a dog. What makes a dog’s life any more inferior to that of a human’s? Shouldn’t a dog’s life be considered even more precious & treasured since it has a shorter life span compared to a human? Why should a dog always be the first to be sacrificed whenever a new member joins the family? I really wonder what kind of morales can be taught to children with parents like these. And if they don’t even have time for a dog, I wonder what kind of time they can spare to educate & bring up their own kids properly.

Please drop Alycia an email to yee.alycia@gmail.com with as much info as possible, if u or anyone u know can give Wewe a forever loving home.

Dog’s Name : Wewe
Breed: Jack Russel Terrier
Clour : White brown
Age : 6 years old
Sex : Female (Sterilised)
Temperment : Sweet and friendly. Gets along with other dogs and is well mannered. Not hyper.
